ABOUT THE WORKThis artwork is, as if it were, both painting and calligraphy.

The power garnered in the bent over body erupts in a stream of pitch-black brush strokes. The silhouette of this painting looks in one section like part of a circle and in another a triangle. There also appear to be a symbol resembling a brushed kanji character. This painting may be a homage to the famous Zen calligraphic work known as \""\u3007\u25B3\u25A1\u201D [Circle-Triangle-Square known as The Universe], painted by Sengai Gibon (1750-1837) during the Edo period (1603\u20131867).
