Frankie And The Heartstrings

are a brand new old-fashioned pop band from Sunderland. Coming fully

formed out of the north-east, the five-piece played their first gig two

years ago and have been grafting solidly since, writing and rehearsing

at night, holding down full-time jobs working in schools, social care

and charity shops during the day. they say that art thrives in the face

of adversity, and in a town like Sunderland where the young would rather

cross fists than swap mixtapes, Frankie And The Heartstrings are

soul-brothers, the dreamers who dared to think big. the Edwyn Collins

produced 'Hunger' is a fantastic album of pop songs that recalls the

golden era of postcard records crossed with a little dexy's. it demands

repeated plays and shouts \""we're gonna be massive\"".
